Medallion Butterflies

Good Morning all and welcome to another week! This will be the first full week of Spring! I sure hope the weather here in Missouri starts to feel more Spring-like! We got SNOW this past weekend! Good Heavens....it's Spring....NO MORE SNOW!!!!

Anyway, enough grumbling.....grumbling won't change anything anyway so might as well not grumble! The card above was inspired by a card I saw on Stampers Showcase some time back. That card was made by Judy Marshall. Here is a list of the items I used to make this card:

Stamp sets: Medallion, True Friend

Cardstock: Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla, Almost Amethyst, Barely Banana

Ink: Creamy Caramel, Mellow Moss, Barely Banana, Almost Amethyst (the Mellow Moss, Barely Banana and Almost Amethyst were used to sponge on the butterflies and leaves)

Other: Very Vanilla satin ribbon, Big Shot, Little Leaves Sizzlet, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Color Spritzer Tool with Creamy Caramel marker, sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals

Bloomin' Beautiful 2

Actually, I made this card for one of the LNS challenges. I never did get it uploaded for that! Oh well! I still really like the card! The challenge was simply to use Designer Series paper! The patterened paper I used on this card is from the Sweet Pea DSP stack. There are alot of really nice papers in the stack....and ALOT of them too! This card was inspired by a card I saw on Stampers Showcase a long time ago. That card was made by Bethany Rozek. Here are the items I used to make this card:

Stamp sets: Bloomin' Beautiful, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Cardstock/Paper: Kraft, Rose Red, Whisper White, Sweet Pea DSP stack

Ink: VersaMark, Rose Red, Old Olive

Other: black embossing powder, Big Shot, Movers & Shapers die w/Modern Label insert, Modern Label punch, Scallop Trim Border punch, Tag punch, Small Tag punch, heat tool, AquaPainter, Stampin' Dimensionals

Big Shot Daisies

This card was inspired by a card I saw on Stampers Showcase that was made by Kerry McKee. I SO love daisies! I don't remember now if Kerry used the daisy die from Stampin' Up! or not but I knew the minute I saw it that I was going to use this die! Here are the items I used to make this card:

Stamp sets: Well Scripted, Vintage Labels

Ink: Bashful Blue (sponged onto the Bashful Blue cardstock after running it through the Big Shot with the texture plate to bring out the texture better), Garden Green

Cardstock: Shimmery White, Bashful Blue, Garden Green, Confetti White

Other: Big Shot, Flourish texture plate (Background 1 set), Little Leaves Sizzlet, Flower Daisies #2 die, Movers & Shapers die with the Curly Label insert, Curly Label punch, sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals, Summer Sun Courdory button

Technique Junkies - Mono Die

This is another technique from the Technique Junkies Newsletter. See the butterflies on the "background" that are the same color as the background. It almost makes it look embossed instead of die cuts from the same color on the background! Here are the items I used to make this card:

Stamp set: Whimsical Words

Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Cameo Coral, Whisper White

Ink: Bermuda Bay, Cameo Coral

Other: Big Shot, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, sponge, Whisper White satin ribbon, Scallop Square punch

Challenge 59 and a new feature here at Pawsitively Happy Stampin'

The card above is my submission for this week's challenge at Late Night Stampers. I never would have thought this was going to be so difficult! We were to make a card using only "pastel" colors (Soft Subtles)....NO white or ivory!!!! I went a little overboard because I couldn't decide which Soft Subtles to use! I think I used them all!!!! I got my "inspiration" for this card from http://www.kerinstamps.com/ - she had made a card using fall colors and on the Top Note dies she used the Branch Out set. Anyway, here is a list of the items I used:

Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst, Barely Banana, Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue

Ink: Barely Banana, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery

Other: Certainly Celery satin ribbon, Big Shot, Top Note die, Stampin' Write markers in Only Orange and Basic Black, Stampin' Dimensionals, sponge, Extra Large Two Step Bird punch (from the current mini catalog)

Now...for my "new feature"...thanks to Barb Moore and her COOL new idea!!!! Every week on Saturday I will "feature" one of my kids here! I'll post a picture or two and also a little bit about them. I'll sometimes feature my kids and sometimes a current foster kid. Of course, these kids I am referring to have four legs and fur!!!!! So, if you are not really interested in dogs....don't bother coming by on Saturday!!!!

Big Buckly card

This is called a "Big Buckle" card. I got the tutorial from Split Coast Stampers. I made this one sort of "tongue in cheek" with the black and white. You know, sort of a joke type card for someone turning 30 or 40. You know how some of us females can be with DREADING those birthdays!!! Here is a picture of what the card looks like "semi" open:

The "belt" goes on top of the card front and then the end of the "belt" tucks into the punched slot. It's really a cute design for a card! I still am not sure about the Real Red "present" I stamped on this though. I just wanted a little punch of color I think! Here is my "recipe" for this card:

Stamp set: Party Hearty

Cardstock/paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Night and Day Designer Series Paper

Ink: VersaMark, Basic Black, Real Red

Other: Corner Rounder punch, Word Window punch, 1 3/4" Circle punch, Scallop Circle punch, Modern Label punch, Modern Label die (with Movers & Shapers die), white embossing powder, heat tool, Big Shot, Stampin' Dimensionals

Criss Cross card

I can't remember now where I got the tut for this card but it's called a "Criss Cross card". It was either from another demo on the Late Night Stampers list or it was from Split Coast Stampers. I changed it up and used different papers and such but the basics of how to make the card is the same. The little die cut butterflies are from the upcoming NEW Occasions Mini catalog that starts in January! It's an Embosslit! I do so love Embosslits! So, here's my "recipe":

Cardstock/Paper: Whisper White, Pretty In Pink, So Saffron, Shades of Spring DSP (also from the upcoming Occasions Mini catalog)

Other: Corner Rounder punch, Sweetest Stem Embosslit, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Pretty In Pink 1/4" grosgrain ribbon

Cards for the Troops #7

Here is another of the cards we sent over to Afghanistan! And, I received word from the Chaplain just this morning that they have received the box of cards I sent! I was SO worried that it would take too long and it would be too late for the men and women to use the Christmas cards! This card was SO simple to make! A tiny bit of die cutting, a little stamping and before you know it, it's DONE! Easy peasy and you could simply change the sentiment and use it for a birthday, anniversary or just about anything! Here is my "recipe" for making this card:

Stamp sets: Circle Circus, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Sanded (background stamp)

Cardstock: Crushed Curry, Whisper White

Ink: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie

Other: Top Note die, Big Shot, gold brads, Stampin' Dimensionals

Luminary

The idea for this originally came from MeGa Stampin' Studio. The two girls who run this blog are part of my SU team. They made their luminaries as Halloween decorations. I made some of these with snowflakes and some, like this, that can be used year round. It's SO simple to make! The hardest part was finding the battery operated tealights! Here's what you need to make one (or more) of these:

Big Shot
Party Favor die
cardstock (here I used Summer Sun)
punch of just about any kind (I used Spring Flowers - I think that was the name of it - but it's retired now - the Boho Blossoms or even the Heart to Heart punch would look great too)
vellum

All I did was run the cardstock through my Big Shot to cut the Party Favor die. I then used the punch to punch the flowers in the center of the front and back of what would be the little bag after I put it together. I attached a little vellum on the inside to cover the place where I punched. Then, I put the bag together using some of that sticky strip tape so that it would hold together really well. Then, in goes the battery operated tealight and - PRESTO - you have a cute little glowing decoration!

Now, I suppose you could use a "regular" tealight but I certainly wouldn't unless I was going to be right there in the room with the luminary the whole time. I mean, you are talking an open flame and paper. That could SO easily become a disaster! We certainly don't want anyone to have a fire so to be on the safe side I'd only use a battery operated tealight.

I made quite a few of these to bring to the upcoming craft fair here in Holden, Missouri. I hope they go over well! If not, all is not lost....I'll have lots of little luminaries to sit around my house!

Autumn Splendor

I LOVE this new stamp set! It is one of the new ones from the Holiday Mini! It is called Autumn Splendor! It may be difficult to see the stamped images in this picture though. I stamped them with VersaMark on Close To Cocoa cardstock and then used metallic copper embossing powder. I think the copper on any brown color cardstock is quite a stunning color combo! Well, it is in person anyway! I then ran the cardstock through my Big Shot using the Top Notes die! Here is the "recipe" I used to make this card:

Stamp sets: Autumn Splendor, Holidays & Wishes

Cardstock/Paper: Close To Cocoa, Taken With Teal, Very Vanilla, Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper

Ink: VersaMark, Encore! Copper

Other: copper embossing powder, Chocolate Chip 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Top Notes die & Big Shot, heat tool, sponge, Checkerboard Texturz plate, Wide Oval punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

All products (except copper embossing powder) either made by or sold through Stampin' Up!

Stampin Addicts dot com has tons of ideas using the Stampin’ Up! Big Shot and is giving away a Big Shot Die Pack as part of the Stampin’ Up! summer celebration. To enter, all you have to do is write about it. This is my entry. Now give me my dies.

That’s rather simplistic but you get the idea. You can add as much information as you want, just make sure you follow the linking rules. The post must be by itself and cannot be added to any other post. The contest is open to anyone. If you have a blog, you can enter. After you complete your entry, send me an email (that link is to the Stampin Addicts email address...not mine) with the URL to your post. Once I confirm the post meets the entry requirements, I’ll add your email to the draw pool. At the end of the month, I’ll draw one name from the bucket and that stamper will be the proud owner of our Big Shot die pack.

Enter now and good luck.

Update: For those that do not have a blog I’ve decided to extend this contest to Twitter, Facebook and StumbleUpon. If you reTweet this post (button at top of page), post about it on Facebook, or Stumble this page (or all three) then send me a note using the contact form and you’ll be entered. Make sure you include a link to the site or this post.

The part in "bold" above is copied directly from the Stampin Addicts website! I just don't want to confuse anyone thinking they will be contacting me!

Now, I LOVE Stampin' Up! and I LOVE the Big Shot! When I visited Stampin Addicts to see about this blog candy it was my first visit. And, I must say, from what I've seen so far, I LOVE Stampin Addicts now too! Here's hoping I win the blog candy!!!!!
