Saturday is Pet Day - Max

At the request of Barb Moore, Saturday is Pet Day here at Pawsitively Happy Stampin'! Each Saturday I will "feature" one of my "kids". Today I am featuring Max! He has been with us the longest. We adopted Max from a Yorkie rescue group in the Kansas City, MO area. We adopted him on November 8, 2003. He was 4 years old at the time (his birthday is May 30, 1999). I LOVE this picture of Max! I am not one for putting clothes on my kids. Maybe that's because none of them really seem to like it! I do have some sweaters for the ones with shorter hair for winter time but that's it! I did buy these silly Christmas hats one year though. The Santa hat Max is wearing is one of those hats! I had NO idea he was making such a face until after Karl (my hubby) had taken the picture and was showing it to me! We both just started rolling when we saw the look on Max's face! I made a scrapbook page using this picture and the "title" of the page is "Bah Humbug"!!!! This picture was taken on December 13, 2006. Max is such a funny little guy! He LOVES going outside and just barks and barks as he runs out the door! I guess that's "just in case" there is something out there that needs to be barked at! Here are a few other pictures of Max.....

The first picture above was taken on December 26, 2006 and the second picture was taken on June 19, 2007. And, one more picture of Max......

This picture was taken June 18, 2008. Now, for all those animals in rescues and shelters...I'd like to ask you all a favor. If you look over in the column to the right you will see a purple "button" with a paw print on it. That is linked to the Animal Rescue site. Please click on that button. Just by clicking you can help donate food to shelters! It costs you NOTHING but a few minutes of your time. Once you get to the Animal Rescue site you will see a purple button up towards the top of the page that says "Click here to give". Just click it. That's it! If you would want to "click" every day you can come back here each day for the "link" or, what's even better, is you can sign up for email reminders each day! That's what I did! I get an email message each morning reminding me to go click to give! The link will be right in the message, you click it, it brings you to the Animal Rescue site, you click the purple button there and you're done! All it took was a few minutes of "clicking" and you helped donate food to a shelter! It really can't be much easier than that!!!!!!

Challenge 59 and a new feature here at Pawsitively Happy Stampin'

The card above is my submission for this week's challenge at Late Night Stampers. I never would have thought this was going to be so difficult! We were to make a card using only "pastel" colors (Soft Subtles)....NO white or ivory!!!! I went a little overboard because I couldn't decide which Soft Subtles to use! I think I used them all!!!! I got my "inspiration" for this card from http://www.kerinstamps.com/ - she had made a card using fall colors and on the Top Note dies she used the Branch Out set. Anyway, here is a list of the items I used:

Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst, Barely Banana, Pretty In Pink, Bashful Blue

Ink: Barely Banana, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery

Other: Certainly Celery satin ribbon, Big Shot, Top Note die, Stampin' Write markers in Only Orange and Basic Black, Stampin' Dimensionals, sponge, Extra Large Two Step Bird punch (from the current mini catalog)

Now...for my "new feature"...thanks to Barb Moore and her COOL new idea!!!! Every week on Saturday I will "feature" one of my kids here! I'll post a picture or two and also a little bit about them. I'll sometimes feature my kids and sometimes a current foster kid. Of course, these kids I am referring to have four legs and fur!!!!! So, if you are not really interested in dogs....don't bother coming by on Saturday!!!!

Big Shot Tote Bag

I'm sure you have seen PLENTY of these all over the internet and on some blogs. Here's mine! Now, a seamstress I am NOT! I'm lucky if I can sew on a button! I had Lisa Lange make mine! She was SO sweet! She went out and found the paw print and dog head fabric just for me!!!! If you'd like for Lisa to make you one you can go to her website - http://www.stampinglisa.com/ - or you can email her at heyylis@aol.com

Now, notice anything different about my blog???? I LOVE the new graphics. Heather still has some buttons and such to install (at least she does as of 2:52 p.m. on Thursday, 2/25). Heather has been really busy but I have heard from her and am sure they will all be installed soon!

LNS Challenge 58

This is my submission for this week's challenge over at Late Night Stampers. This week was simply to use either punches or dies. The inspiration for this card came from a card I saw online some time back. That card was made by Lisa Buesing. So, Lisa, even though I don't know you....thank you! Here's my "recipe" for this card:

Stamp sets: Circle Circus, Sprinkles, Trendy Trees

Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White

Ink: Melon Mambo, Elegant Mambo, Old Olive

Other: Melon Mambo Polkadot ribbon, 1" Circle punch, 1 1/4" Circle punch, Word Window punch, Small Oval punch, Large Oval punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

All products made by Stampin' Up!

And, just a side note....hopefully over the next few days you will see a whole new look here! The name of my blog changed back in November or December. That was Michelle Laycock's idea! I LOVED it! I have been "in line" for her to make me some graphics since then. She finally got to me and I've "approved" the new graphics. She has sent the graphics on to Heather Wright-Porto for Heather to install them for me. So, now I'm "in line" for Heather. These two girls are SO busy! I heard from Heather just a few days ago and she thought she'd be able to get them installed either this past Friday or Saturday. Well, it's now Sunday but still no new graphics. I am sure Heather is busy so I'll try my best to not bug her but I am so anxious to get the new graphics installed! So, check back often during this next week to see my new look that will match my "new" name - Pawsitively Happy Stampin'!!!!!

Watercolor Roses

I know I'm WAY behind on making these. There is a funny story behind these roses though! I did try way back when everyone was making these. I never could get mine to come out looking as nice as everyone else did. I visited Kelly Mayou's blog (The Weekend Stamper) and she AND her then 5 year old son had made one each. Well, if a 5 year old could make one why couldn't I???? So, I left a comment on Kelly's blog telling her that I was SO upset because Jay (her son) could make one but I couldn't. Next thing I know I got an evelope in the mail from Kelly. She sent me a really pretty butterfly she had made using this technique, Jay's watercolor rose and a note. Here is part of the note: "Jay said it was OK for me to send you his rose 'in case she can't do it like me.'....I just thought that was SO sweet and funny!!! (Yes...I kept the note too!) So, Kelly, if you see this you MUST call Jay in to show him his rose and MINE!!!! Jay made the pink colored on on the blue card and I made the yellow one. I still think Jay's looks better than mine though!!!!

2010 Monthly Card Swap

Well, I've done something that I've NEVER done before! I signed up to be in a monthly card swap between Stampin' Up! demonstrators! Each month I make 7 cards (actually 8 so that I can keep one for myself) exactly alike and mail them to the swap coordinator. She then sorts through all the cards and takes one from each of the 7 other folks and mails one of each back to me. I got some really nice Valentine's cards from the swap this month! Each month has a theme and we can use only current Stampin' Up! products! Here is the card I made for this month's swap:

And, here are some of the cards I received. They are all REALLY nice!

The one above made by Cathy Bell. The little hearts are made (I assume punched but I can't be sure) from a paper with glitter embedded in it! The "red" in the back is a piece of cardstock I used as the background so that the mostly white card would stand out!

This card was made by Jan Waters. I just can't put into words how cute it is in person!

This one was made by a lady with the first name Lisa. I'm not sure of Lisa's last name. So, Lisa, if you happen to see this please leave me a comment and tell me your last name so that I can add it here! This card is really elegant! Who would have thought that Whisper White, Basic Black, Going Gray and Pretty In Pink would have made such a nice Valentine's card!

This lovely card was made by Mari Leininger. All of the dry embossing on the background and the little embossed hearts is REALLY nice!

This pretty card was made by Robin Johnson. It is really pretty in person. What you may not be able to tell from the photo is that the patterned paper down at the bottom is actually on the inside of the card. The scalloped looking edge is the bottom of the front of the card. VERY nice Robin!

And, last but certainly not least is the really pretty stair step card. I have NO clue who made this one! So, if you are a member of the 2010 Monthly Card Swap over at Split Coast Stampers and you made this card, please leave me a comment so that I can give you credit for this beautiful card!

Dabbed Shimmers

I am a subscriber to the Technique Junkies newsletter! If you like trying new techniques then you will REALLY love the Technique Junkies newsletters! This technique came from the February 2010 issue. It's called Dabbed Shimmers. I know it's hard to tell in the picture but the technique is used on the background piece. I started with a plain piece of Whisper White, I ran it through my Big Shot with a Texturz plate and then I started dabbing! This technique gives a really neat mottled effect and has the added effect of shimmer. Here are the products I used to make this card:

Stamp set: Garden Whimsey

Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Whisper White

Ink: VersaMark, Bashful Blue

Other: Big Shot, Pattern 2 Texturz plate, Stampin' Dimensionals, Bashful Blue 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Bashful Blue re-inker, Pale Plum re-inker, Frost White Shimmer Paint, sponge, Lavender Stampin' Emboss powder

All products made by Stampin' Up!

Block Collage Technique from Technique Junkies

I made this card in honor of Love Your Pet Day. Love Your Pet Day is February 20. This card highlights a technique from the February/March 2009 newsletter. This technique is called "Block Collage". The paper started white. You brayer ink all on it. Stamp your main image, cover it with a Post-It note, then stamp all around the Post-It note. Before removing the Post-It note you stipple around the edges of the Post-It to sort of highlight the main image. Remove the Post-It and use as desired! If you are interested in joining Technique Junkies look over on the right sidebar...there is a little badge that is linked to the Technique Junkies website.

Here is a list of the products I used to make this card:

Stamp set: D is for Dog

Cardstock: Basic Black, Whisper White

Ink: Basic Gray, Going Gray

Other: flat back pearls from the Pretties Kit, glue, Post-It note, stipple brush, Ticket Corner punch, brayer

All products (except Post-It note) made by Stampin' Up!
